About the Artist

Born in Trenton, New Jersey, Frank Lumia, MD worked at the Deborah Heart and Lung Center for 29 years before retiring in May 2006. He served on the faculty of RWJ School of Medicine. Prior to that he was on the staff of SUNY at Stony Brook on Long Island.

He started painting as a hobby about 1990 at the suggestion of his mother-in-law who took classes at her local Senior Citizens' Club and Club and enjoyed them. He studied with Lynn Pittard, Mary Carole, and with local artist Kathy Fiore. In the beginning, Lumia started exclusively with oils but has since been exploring working with water colors and acrylics. Lumnia continues to explore various media with his favorite subjects to paint including landscapes, flowers, and faces.
