Artist's Statement

I am a scientist but I have always been interested in the arts. Growing up in NYC I played a lot of hooky in the wonderful museums in Manhattan. In my art I try to capture emotions in 2D space and I am looking for my voice with color. My preferred medium is acrylic paints or mixed media.

About the Artist
Karen has a doctoral degree from NYU Medical School in Molecular Genetics and her post-doctoral work was done at MIT. She retired, after 20 years at Merck as a Research Fellow pursuing the discovery and development of novel antibiotics. She is a self-taught artist and is now exploring a new path in her life journey.
