PRESS RELEASE
ALLENTOWN ART GUILD’S 2008 ART YARD SALE

On October 11th and 12th from 10AM until 4PM, the Allentown Art Guild will present its third annual, two-day Fall Art Show and Sale at the Jeff Martin Photography Studio, which is located at 78 N. Main St., Allentown, NJ.

Well over 100 original works of art by the Guild’s multi-talented members will be on display. These works include paintings in oil, watercolor, acrylic and mixed media; prints; mobiles; stained glass; photography and pottery. The Fall Show coincides with Allentown’s Harvest Festival, adding to the variety of town events being held that weekend.

Unlike previous Fall shows held by the Guild, this year’s show will feature a “yard sale” format with each artist setting up individual display areas where affordable works of art can be purchased.

The Allentown Art Guild is comprised of 24 members -– full-time and part-time artists from the Allentown, Cream Ridge, Perrineville and Roosevelt area. Since the Guild was formed as non-profit organization just over two years ago, it has made tremendous strides in appreciation of the arts in the community.

The Guild holds monthly meetings that include workshops, demonstrations, and lectures by distinguished artists from New Jersey. The public is invited to attend many of these events since it is the Guild’s goal to encourage art appreciation in our community as well as to encourage artistic growth among its members.

The Allentown Art Guild’s Fall Art Yard Sale will be October 11th and 12th from 10AM until 4PM each day at the Jeff Martin Photography Studio, 78 N. Main St., Allentown – 1/2 mile south on Route 539 at Exit #8 on Route 195.

Information about the sale, monthly Guild activities, or information on how to become a member can be found on the Guild web site or by calling Elizabeth Martin at 609-259-0455 or Ericka O’Rourke at 609-259-4292.

Visitors are encouraged to stop by, view the exhibit and meet the artists.

Allentown Art Guild Mural Project 2008

As a collective artistic exercise the Allentown Art Guild recently decided to create the “Mural Project 2008”. The group divided a photo of the Allentown Mill and Mill Pond into individual squares. Each artist was free to interpret his or her square as they wished; rendering that square in their medium of choice. The squares were then sewn together by fiber artist member Teri Nalbone, creating a fun, eclectic interpretation of Allentown’s most recoqnizable vista. The finished mural is presently hanging in the Allentown Public Library.
